Curriculum Structure

The DT Based curriculum – R2019 consists of Theory, Blended and Practical courses, with a total credit of 170 to be earned for the award of degree. The Computer Science and Engineering Program consists of Basic Science courses for 24 credits, Humanities and Management courses for 8 credits, Engineering Sciences courses for 21 credits, Program core for 58 credits, Program Elective and Open Elective courses for 38 credits and DT CFC / IIPC courses for 21 credits. The mandatory courses are framed to impart the students with skills and knowledge required for the current industry requirements like soft skills, internships, recent trends in technology, capstone etc. The entire curriculum was framed based on the AICTE guidelines and the industry expectations from the graduates. The design thinking aspect was included in every course to make the students experience the five stages and imbibe the methodology and its solution-based approach.

Design Thinking

Design thinking is a novel approach of solving engineering and social problem from the customer perspective. An innovative human-centered approach that integrates the needs of people, the possibilitiesof technology, and the requirements for successful business.All most all global corporate giants are pioneering in design thinking and internationally recognized universities and institutions are also deploying design thinking in their curriculum. We are 1stInstitution in India who has successfully implemented design thinking at our curriculum level and have also trained faculties and students in the process. Design thinking makes the students more inclined to the customer perspective to identify their need and employ technology to provide it.

7+5 Thrust Areas

The world is pioneering with seven fields comprising Agriculture and Food Technology, Healthcare and Biomedical, Power & Energy, Aerospace and Defence, Automobile, Smart city and Fintech, being the fore runners in the world economy. There are five revolutionary technologies of Augmented Reality & Virtual Realty, Internet of Things, Data Analytics, Robotics and Automation and 3D Printing. The combination of the fields and the influencing technologies are framed as the 7+5 thrust areas. The Institution focuses the knowledge impartment and training in these seven fields through the five technologies. Students and faculty as one are given opportunity to learn, practice and master over these areas.

Business Model Canvas

As a part of start-up culture, Aspiring Entrepreneurs should aware about BMC while pitching the startup idea to investors.  BMC should be short, simple and compelling. For that our curriculum is implemented with Design thinking. So every student exposure to different canvas model for business.

Our Syllabus

Every course has been framed with syllabus based on the course objective and comprising five units. Every unit consists of logical content with a unique course outcome. Mostly the courses are incorporated with the industry case studies to have the real life problem solving. The syllabus enriches the student’s technical knowledge in the core and other department open electives to provide exposure to technology integration in other fields. It also promotes industrial training, internship along with life skill learning. The topics expected in the GATE/competitive exams are considered to ensure that students get prepared for higher learning.

Teaching and Learning

The teaching learning process considers the various strata of students in the class. The learning platform encompasses diversified methods in teaching that mainly focuses on student’s centric approach. Classroom delivery structure includes recap of previous session, content delivery with refreshing activity in between and finally with a summarization of the session. Kinaesthetic Learning is used wherever possible by making them involved in the problem-solving process. Students are engaged through ICT enable lectures, group discussion, Collaborative learning, PJBL, PBL, Case Based Learning, Blended Learning, role play ingredients of learning process. Every class is equipped with a video projector and relevant professional videos are used to walk through the topics in an involved environment.  Every class includes assessment at the end to know the level of understanding of the students and any remedial process to be initiated if needed.  Continuous learning process equips the students with self-learning by exposing them to the online courses and contents. Students are encouraged to learn post academic hours and the faculty is available physically during the stipulated office hours in his cabin or offline through the social media 24X7.

SNS Courseware

Every course teacher uploads his/her lesson plan, lecture notes, assignments, Puzzles, Question banks with answer keys, multiple-choice questions (MCQs), etc in the college web portal www.snscourseware.org which are accessible by the students anywhere at any time. All the contents shared in the classroom are also uploaded on the website for students’ reference. Online learning holds the promise of broadening access to higher education to more individuals, while also lowering costs for students

Faculty Development

Increasing internationalization in teaching the education and is considered vital for institutions in developing the research and innovation and increasing the quality of teaching and learning. In order to enhance the academic and intellectual environment in the institution by providing faculty members with ample opportunities to participate in seminars / conferences / workshops. Participation in such programmes would enable faculty members to update their research and pedagogical skills. Faculty Development Program primary objective is to equip faculty members with required skills in recent technologies and tools. Professional development strengthens the affective, intellectual, and social aspects of academic life. It improves the academic experience at institutions for teachers and students. Faculties mainly focused to attended FDPs, Workshops, Seminars and Conferences in Emerging areas like Data Science, IoT, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Data Analytics and AR /VR, that to it should be organized by reputed institutions/Universities like IITs, NITs, TEQIP, NITTTR. All faculties must attend anyone program during summer/winter vacation.  All the faculties are mandated to get NPTEL certificates for every academic year. 1 Faculty received Certificate from NPTEL, 11 faculties earned FDP certification and 1 faculty attended seminar.

Student Progression

Every student after inception in the first year are given personal care and attention through specially assigned mentor. Talent search and personality identification of each student is analysed and they are taught, trained, challenged and guided in a systematic progression. Students are encouraged and guided to be globally competent through various competition and challenging forums in all their years of study. Students were given opportunity to pick their electives to enhance in their field of specialization. Choice Based Credit System paves a way for the students to select the faculty of their own choice so as to increase the faculty-student interaction and understanding. Through personal mentorship programme, each student is given special and individual care to help them grow and mature in academic, social and personal skills and talents. At the end of the program, it is made sure that every student progress in systematic, customized and challenging manner that satisfies the graduate attributes every student should possess.

The student progression is monitored by keeping a record of all the activities like attendance & assessment for each course by the respective faculty through portal. Apart from the mentoring system, the students’ progress is monitored through class tests, online quizzes, assignments, projects, contests, submission of journal abstracts of current status of the technology, attending conferences/seminar/webinars on relevant topics. The above strategies motivate them to involve themselves and succeed beyond their communication barriers, rural/urban background and develop the sense of team work. Slow and Advanced learners are identified and special work or coaching are provided.
