Innovations Overview

Civil Engineering Department of SNSCT focusing on Innovation in its modern meaning is “a new idea, creative thoughts, and new imaginations in the form of device or methods”. Innovation is often also viewed as the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, unarticulated needs or existing market needs. Such innovation takes place through the provision of more effective products, processes, services, technologies and business models that are made available to markets, governments and society. Innovation is related to, but not the same as invention, as innovation is more apt to involve the practical implementation of an invention. Innovations happens when “someone improves on or makes a significant contribution” to something that has already been invented, and converting knowledge in to wealth. Innovation is a complex process – even defining innovation is problematic. Many New and unique ideas are making their way and it is clear that manufacturers and marketers are listening to the needs and wants of customers, and are making new products to meet the demands. It is based on broad set of strategic, marketing and technical skills.

Product Development

Civil Engineering Department of SNSCT, product development covers the complete process of bringing a new product to market. A central aspect of product development is product design, along with various business considerations. New product development is described broadly as the transformation of a market opportunity into a product available for sale. The product can be tangible (something physical which one can touch) or intangible (like a service, experience, or belief), though sometimes services and other processes are distinguished from “products.” It requires an understanding of customer needs and wants, the competitive environment, and the nature of the market. Cost, time, and quality are the main variables that drive customer needs. Aiming at these variables, innovative companies develop continuous practices and strategies to better satisfy customer requirements and to increase their own market share by a regular development of new products. There are many uncertainties and challenges which the inventor must face throughout the process.

Research paper publication is the process which takes place after the research work, reading, hypothesis, analysis, and conclusion. A research paper describes the output of research. If it is published in a Journal or conference, then it is a published research paper, or a publication. Our faculty members have published 1642 research papers in reputed journals.

Books

An innovative instructor expands their power of observation their familiar metaphors grow stronger. The extension and exploration leads to more elaborations on their specialized areas. This makes it possible for them to extensively and exclusively publish their works as books. Their works are analyzed and organized to facilitate learning for students. In this regard our faculty have published 33 books.

A creative work is regarded as a specific form of property. Patent protects the ownership of the work. Our researchers seek patent protection to ensure the idea and technology involved in their research is not obvious to others working in the same field. We have 52 utility patents and design patents by our research community.

Grants / Funds

Fund sanctioned from funding agencies for research, training, innovation and entrepreneurship development.
The scheme aims to promote excellence in research in higher education by supporting research programme of University and College teachers in various disciplines. The University Grants Commission provides support to permanent/regular working/retired teachers in the Universities and Colleges.

International Relations

The Civil Engineering Department of SNSCT is focusing more on International relations.  It represents the study of foreign affairs and global issues among states within the international system, including the roles of states, International Organizations (IGOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and Multi-National Corporations (MNCs). International relations are about having a cross-cultural understanding and awareness of what’s happening beyond borders. Students who are studying also have the opportunity to take part in the exchange program where they will spend a semester studying at one of the university’s renowned partner institutions. An internationally peer-reviewed journal explores international relations by collaborating in journal papers. Exchanging knowledge in research develops international relations leads to collaborate in project proposals. Acquire knowledge in the Teaching and learning process while going for Foreign exchange programs.
